About & method
Card Game Index is a small, hand-built reference for one very specific kind of search: “card games that start with…”. There are currently 117 games across 4 letters, from C and M to P and S.
Why this exists
Most results for letter-based card-game queries are auto-generated lists: a hundred names in a table, no player counts, no explanation, and often games that do not exist. We wanted the opposite — a short list you can actually use, where every entry tells you how many people can play, how long it takes and what you are trying to do.
How a game gets on a list
- It is played primarily with cards, and its common English name starts with the letter of the page.
- It has a rule set you can actually look up — a publisher rulebook, Pagat, or a well-documented traditional game.
- It is distinct. Expansions and reskins are folded into the base game's entry instead of padding the list.
Player counts and play times are the publisher's or BoardGameGeek's figures, rounded to a sensible range. Traditional games vary by region, so we give the most common form and say so.
Sources
Each list is checked against Pagat for traditional games, BoardGameGeek for modern ones, and Wikipedia for background. Links in each entry go to the best free rules source we could find.
Corrections and suggestions
If a game is missing, a player count is wrong, or a rules link is dead, email hello@cardgameindex.com. Corrections are usually published the same week.
